ONCE IN A LIFETIME at the Young Vic

George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s play ONCE IN A LIFETIME opened on Broadway in 1930. I absolutely loved the 2016 production at the Young Vic. Hyemi Shin has cleverly designed a moving three piece set which transports us into the movie making of that era. This is a screwball comedy played for laughs and there were plenty of them. Harry Enfield incredibly in his stage debut is just wonderful as the movie mogul running the studio. John Marquez gives a tender performance. Amanda Lawrence gives a scene stealing performance as the dotty Miss Leighton. The Young Vic are home to so much genius in British Theatre and this is amongst the very best I have seen there.
