GHOST at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham

May 8, 2017

I saw the original West End version and the first UK tour at the Grand in Wolverhampton and I really liked the show. The technical wizardry of the digital screens was particularly impressive. However, it’s a Bill Kenwright production of GHOST at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham.

All of the expensive technical digital wizardry has been replaced with a cheap empty set. There was even a piece of it that fell off during one of the scene changes. The lead Sarah Harding was screeching rather than singing which made this catastrophe more painful than it needed to be. This really felt like a third rate rip off of the original production. Shame for all of those people that never saw the original.
