BURIED CHILD at Trafalgar Studios

May 8, 2017

Sam Shepard’s BURIED CHILD at Trafalgar Studios with Ed Harris and his wife Amy Madigan was possibly the best play I have seen this year. American actors in an American well constructed gritty story about a family with a secret.. I don’t know if it is all of those American movies in my formative years but I have a real penchant for great American drama and this play is up there with the best.

Ed Harris is a Hollywood superstar and it was such a treat to be a couple of feet from him so I could study his performance. Every single tiny movement and gesture was a deliberate act to communicate more about his character drawing us into his family and his story. Amy Madigan has real stage presence and balances her husband perfectly.

This play felt absolutely like I was just looking into this family sitting room and watching events as they unfolded
