INTO THE WOODS at the Meunier Chocolate Factory

September 24, 2016

Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s INTO THE WOODS at the Meunier Chocolate Factory by Fiasco Theatre from Off Broadway was brilliant. Fiasco Theatre are an ensemble that have built up a repertoire performing Shakespeare and they remind me of Ed Hall’s company Propeller. They are not the traditional Broadway or West End musical theatre actors and therefore do not have the best singing voices. However, they more than make up for this with their ensemble storytelling ability. This production feels devised with every single moving part perfectly working in harmony to create a wonderful whole. The production is full of warmth and I could feel the intense love and trust amongst this remarkable group of players. This is a perfect show for their special mix of talents. A pure delight.
