DOCTOR FAUSTUS at The Swan Theatre

April 9, 2016

Christopher Marlowe’s DOCTOR FAUSTUS directed by Maria Aberg at the Swan RSC is a visual delight. Naomi Dawson has designed with a flare for the dramatic and created a patchwork of visually memorable scenes. It did not take long to get into the old english verse and to enjoy the plot bringing the story into our lives of today.

Sandy Grierson played Faustus and Oliver Ryan was a particularly beguiling Mephistophilis. I understand that they switch the roles giving each a deeper connection with the other which is apparent in their performances from the moment they appear on stage.

Excellent ensemble cast gives the usual depth of an RSC production in the Swan.
