SYLVIA at Birmingham Hippodrome

June 28, 2015

Birmingham Royal Ballet’s SYLVIA at the Hippodrome was both sumptuous and captivating. It feels like a very classic production with all of the familiar set pieces. It is a human family story told through the metaphor of the Gods. A particularly enjoyable scene has William Bracewell as the Pirate King dancing on his wooden leg. Joseph Caley dancing with Momoko Hirata was particularly special. However once again it was the powerful performance by Tyrone Singleton that impressed the most.
