MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING at the RSC

December 13, 2014

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING presented as LOVE’s LABOUR’s WON is the twin production to the excellent Love’s Labour’s Lost.

Same fresh perspective from director Christopher Luscombe with Simon Hiiglett’s same grand set design based on the house at Charlecote Park at the end of World War 1. Same excellent ensemble cast with Edward Bennett once again stealing the limelight. All in all the same production qualities give this play the same foundation.

Both of these twin productions are full of music and musical numbers which really adds to the productions. However in this play perhaps because it was the end of the second night, and it was the lessor of the two, there was just one musical number too many and I could feel the strain beginning to wear in my cheeks as my smile started to become more of a grimace.
