MOJO at Harold Pinter Theatre

December 12, 2013

In order of brilliance: Daniel Mays, Ben Wishaw, Colin Morgan, Rupert Grint, Brendan Coyle and Tom Rhys Harries are possibly the finest cast currently performing in the West End in Jez Butterworth‘s MOJO at the Harold Pinter Theatre. Jez Butterworth writes incredible characters and with incredible performances there is not much not to like. Daniel Mays and Ben Wishaw were absolute stand out award winning performances and Rupert Grint was excellent in his stage debut. Great set, great lighting.

I was buzzing when the curtain came down after the first Act. Then we get more of the same great characters and great acting in the second Act. It is a great play BUT it is too long for this very simple tale in my view. Half way through the second Act I started to feel I was getting more of the same and I didn’t feel the play was really going anywhere. There is resolution in exposition but by then I was just keen on the curtain coming down.
