BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at Warwick Arts

December 12, 2013

Life imitating art or art imitating life? The sexy Julie Atlas Muz and the very beautiful Matt Fraser perform the fairy tale BEAUTY AND THE BEAST to tell us about their own experiences of falling in love and building a relationship. They are both physical performers who expressively use their whole bodies. With the collaboration of puppeteers Jonny Dixon and Jess Jones and the brilliant direction of Improbable’s Phelim McDermott they have created a magical piece of performance art quite unlike anything I have ever experienced.

Sometimes it has the magical quality of a child’s fairy tale in a puppet theatre, sometimes a side-show at an ancient country fare, sometimes a burlesque cabaret, sometimes just two people in love and sometimes an outstanding theatrical performance. It is touching, erotic, enlightening, illuminating and ultimately full of joy. I thoroughly recommend this show to anyone who is interested in the true nature of PERFORMANCE.
