Birmingham Royal Ballet’s new production “Aladdin” is a colourful and magical epic with the most beautiful of symphonic scores by Carl Davis. Every aspect of this production has been carefully crafted creating a cinematic three Act masterpiece which more than matches the excellent repertoire of this fine Ballet Company.

If you are a regular Ballet fan of the Hippodrome you might miss some depth in the choreography, particularly in the main role of Aladdin with more acting than dance. However there are some tremendous set pieces with the whole company and I was particularly impressed by Mathias Dingman as the Djinn of the Lamp.
