A Chorus of Disapproval

March 6, 2013

Trevor Nunn’s production of “A Chorus of Disapproval” by Alan Ayckbourne was a real disappointment for Mike and I. We were looking forward to seeing Rob Brydon’s West End debut and we generally enjoy Ayckbourne’s particular view of a slice of ordinary life.

Trevor Nunn seems to have directed this Ayckbourne play as if it was a Shakespeare trajedy or a big musical and all of the cleverness and humour in the ordinariness of the plot has been lost in the confusion. The result was a rather dull drawn out matinee which matched the incredibly dreary wet October afternoon in London.
